Frequently asked questions

Can I try datamcp for free?

Yes. The Free plan includes 1 PostgreSQL, MySQL, OpenAPI, or Agent Memory source connection and 1 MCP link. No credit card is required.

How do Agent Memory limits work?

Agent Memory uses plan-based rate limits per user and memory connection. Free supports 20 appends per minute and 60 per hour, Pro supports 120 per minute and 2,000 per hour, and Enterprise supports 600 per minute and 20,000 per hour. Connection-level and organization-level safety limits also apply.

What PostgreSQL versions are supported?

datamcp works with PostgreSQL 12 and above, including hosted databases like Supabase, Neon, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, and self-hosted instances.

Can I connect MySQL?

Yes. Add a MySQL connection with a dedicated least-privilege account, then create a hosted MCP link. Start read-only and verify both allowed and denied operations before granting writes.

Is my database connection string secure?

Database connection strings are encrypted with AES-256-GCM at rest and are not persisted in plaintext. Use a verified TLS mode whenever the PostgreSQL or MySQL provider supports it.

Can AI tools modify my database?

Only if you allow it. You control permissions for each MCP link - read-only, read-write, or custom per-table access. You can restrict AI to SELECT-only queries.

What happens if I exceed my plan limits?

You won't lose access to existing connections. You simply won't be able to add new ones until you upgrade or remove existing connections.

Which OpenAPI sources can I connect?

datamcp supports OpenAPI 3.x JSON or YAML specifications and supported Swagger UI or Redoc pages. Upstream calls can use an API key, pre-issued Bearer token, HTTP Basic credential, optional custom headers, or no authentication.
